I’ve had a fairly productive month in Taiji, but I’ve also had a bit of a rough one. My knees started becoming inflamed again, so I had to take it easy a couple of days.
There has been less emphasis on form work and more emphasis on push hands. We’ve also gotten into some of the theory beyond just application.
Man, it’s been almost two months since my last taiji post. Well, I’ve returned to class after a lengthy recovery of my knees and things seem to be going well. Unfortunately, during my break from taiji, I had to break from leg workouts altogether as they were aggravating the injury. This means my legs have fallen out of shape due to lack of heavy duty work. However, I’m recovering quickly.
I haven’t posted a taijiquan post in a while so I’ll recap what I can remember. The past few weeks brought me into the third section of the form and a progression into more advanced stationary push hands. The focus is shifting a little as I am advancing, and I feel like my Sifu is sensing I am in it for the long haul so he is teaching me in more detail.
I skipped another week of writing up my Taiji class notes. Most of what has been going on is review, drilling, and corrections. I have, however, reached another small milestone in my learning experience. I also managed to finally get my hands on more appropriate attire.
A student from the Fort Worth school joined in, and may be with us for a few classes while his schedule is adjusted. This was welcome for me since this gave me another partner to work with. I’ve also finally received my uniform so now I can dress appropriately. These are some pretty big changes. This covers the last two weeks since I missed posting last week.
