Comment on Virtualizing With lxc In Ubuntu – Done Right! by Nimdae

One thing to note about running a lxc guest is there isn't a real startup process. Upstart assumes that there is a startup process and requires some signals for complete functionality. Some upstart scripts require signals that may never fire or may not fire for some time. This is the cause of the 2 to 3 minute boot time once you finish following my procedures if you using dhcp.

There are two scripts you can modify to get immediate access to the guest once you start it:

/lxc/rootfs.lager/etc/init/networking.conf
/lxc/rootfs.lager/etc/init/tty1.conf

Change the line that starts with "start on" to "start on startup". This gets networking and a console up immediately.

Additionally, if you are using dhcp, you will need to add a line to your file (in my case, fstab.lager).

none /lxc/rootfs.lager/var/run tmpfs defaults 0 0

The mount scripts start on startup, but with networking and other scripts starting on startup, they can attempt their start before appropriate filesystems are ready.

Any services that you want to start up need to start on startup, so you may also want to modify those scripts.

I've found some various other issues that I want to work out, partly dealing with security.

I'll write up more another time.

I don't think I ever had comments disabled. Comments should work for all registered users. If you're wondering why there's rarely comments, it's because no one else really looks at my site.

I have seen sicko. If you watched this entire video, you'll see a comment about how the healthcare industry tried to turn that around and find the nightmare problems with those healthcare systems to combat the things Michael Moore was showing, which was people being happy with their healthcare arrangements.

It was sad that, of all places, he could go to Cuba and get healthcare for his handful of people who were struggling to get healthcare here.

Few people realize how the frequency of meals affects their bodies, and to what extent. And then when you tell them to eat more frequently, they tend to make the excuse that they have no time. Between your major meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) you can easily fit in a banana, meal replacement bar, rice cake, or whatever is simple. It sounds like snacking, but if you keep moderation in mind, it counts as meals. All the same, don't overdo the snacking, and stay away from unhealthy snack foods, like potato chips, snack cakes, etc. Fruits make really good snacks, as do some granola mixes or granola bars.

Great article Nimdae!

Made me think a lot of what I'm eating and how frecuently. I've been trying to lose an extra 5KG I have since I moved country. I thought just taking 2 meals a day, not too heavy, would help me. I have been going down, just a little bit, but I also realise it's detrimental to my health.

I guess I should start eating more frecuently even smaller-portions, and getting more vegetables and stuff. Anyway, keep up the good blogs!

Oh, but you do good in using Chrome.

Honestly I have been using it as my main browser for over 3 months now. I got sick of Firefox crashing on me, making me lose all my work.

I basically live on the "cloud", so I use it constantly for business, and personal issues. When Firefox crashed I would lose anything I was working with on other tabs. With Chrome, I just love the fact only one process (tab) dies, or in any case if a plugin fails only the plugin is killed inside the tab.

Plus the security sandbox, and general JS performance outruns FF any day as far as I am concerned (and a few tests I have ran).

So in my opinion, you have done a good thing switching.

Seems good enough. Sometimes it's best concentrating on a few topics than a massive amount, or just on one topic.

I tried going over the board with my blog. Mine is supposed to be about life, technology, programming, music, art, places, photography and AI.

The problem is that when you try to cover such a range of topics, you either lose interest, or start considering it a waste of time. Or both.

Your idea seems pretty straightforward, so go for it mate!
